That's a no go

So it doesn't look like the Destination Wedding idea won't be happening. I thought it was a good idea though! Nanna wanted me to get married in Honalulu where her and grandpa got married which would've been AWESOME! It's a lot of money to ask everyone to pay for though and I feel it would be hard to trust a wedding planner in another place with our wedding day. On that note, I got some good ideas from the Bridal show and it'd be nice to maybe get some input from all you girls. I'm having a hard time making decisions about center pieces, favors, decorations, flowers etc., so some views from the outside might be helpful. I know you're all busy with work and school (so am I) but I need your help! When it comes time to try on bridesmaid dresses and such, I thought we might all take a road trip to Cincinnati. There's a shop with Jim Hjelm dresses (the dresses I posted) and Cassie lives down there so it seems like that would work out, probably sometime this summer after Kelly moves back and is settled in Ann Arbor. Let me know what you all think about it and we can pick a weekend that works for everyone.
Love You All,
TT

Good Idea Mon!

I think that would be a great idea TT...sure it would cost a little for tickets and stuff, but i'm sure that would even out trying to accommodate 265 people! and yeah, who wants to get married in front of 300 people, most you don't even know! ( I wouldn't!)...that and I want to go to the carribean!

More Wedding ideas...

soooo...what are everyone's thoughts on us having a Destination Wedding? Something small in, oh lets say the Carribean??? I'm looking for more information so it's just an idea right now but that seems more special than having a huge wedding (Guest list is already at 265 and we didn't even put extended family in). If we did this, it'd just be our family (moms dads and sisters) and whatever friends wanted to come. In other words, the people most important to us. I'll let you know more information when I find it! Love you all

bye mom and dad :(

See you in April!! I had lots of fun while you guys were here, hanging out, drinking bud lights with dad, hanging out in the back yard drinking coconuts! i'm sad you're gone but the time until april is going to go by soooo fast!! okay first off, katie, SUPER cute house!! it's so perfect! I love the feeling it seems like a very comfortable place to be. do you know what color our wedding dresses are going to be? just wondering...And good job Keri on your tests, that's so awesome! you guys are all doing so well! and i'm so happy! and again i'm sad I won't be home for christmas, but i'll definatly be thinking about you all the whole day! but when I move home the last and final marten girl will be 21 years of age, so I can buy you all a beer! to celebrate my homecoming! Can't wait!!!!

Thanks!!

I must send my thanks to Erin and TT! I must have intercepted their good luck between Bowling Green and Toledo. I took two of my four finals yesterday and aced both of them. My first class on Thursday is Criminal Law, at 2:00. My teacher for that class has been out due to a knee replacement. To my surprise, the instructor I have for my second class, Patrol Operations, chose to substitute for this class. He allowed me to take both of my finals during my 2:00 class, saving me time and gas. He graded both of the exams after everyone else left and I ended up with 100% on both of them. Turns out, he had the overall grade books and totaled up my final scores for the classes. For Patrol Operations, I earned a 100% A, overall; and for Criminal Law, I ended up with an astonishing 112%!!!! I was so excited to hear that my score was so high. I am excited that I finally got the hang of this whole school thing, it’s really as easy as everyone told me it would be.
Two more finals to go. One being Sociology, that I take tomorrow. Everyone told me that I would really like that class, but it really turned out to be one of my least favorites. Monday I have my Juvenile Justice System final, this class is one of my top two favorite classes. My teacher told me that I only needed 22 points on the exam in order to receive an A for the class. I can’t wait until classes are over and I can enjoy the holidays.
Again, thank you to TT and Erin for their luck that I intercepted!
Love you all!

Wedding stuff

I can't believe that mom and dad left this beautiful weather we're having to go down to Florida! Bring back some sunshine!

Anyways, the reason I'm blogging is because I wanted to let you girls know that I'm going to ask Elizabeth Simon to be my Maid of Honor. I've been blessed to have so many awesome close friends and if I could have them all in my wedding I would. But since my wedding isn't a circus, I'll only have 6 bridesmaids. (Erin, Erica, Keri, Kelly, Cassie and Elizabeth). I wasn't even sure at first if I'd choose a friend to be my maid of honor but because I couldn't exactly choose one of you other the other, and I wasn't going to choose Cassie over any of you, I decided to go with Elizabeth. She's been one of those friends that is always there for me no matter what. We don't need to see eachother all the time or talk to eachother everyday to know that we're still as good of friends now that we were in Junior High. We both have grown so much since then, and through everything, she's still my BFF! Her birthday is tomorrow, mine is on thursday and to celebrate we're going out to Breakfast at Kermits on saturday morning so I'm gonna ask her then. I'll keep you posted on how it went!
Love you All

YAY!

mom and dad-I'm excited for you to come down to see me, even though it's only for two days! actually you're probably getting ready to leave now, so I'll see you tomorrow! Love you all!

What I am thankful for!

I'll send you good luck, TT, if you send some my way too:) Just two more weeks of the semester and I can begin preparing for my transition to Lourdes college. I have to admit that I am very nervous. It is such a good school. Can I really keep up? I am sure there will be many more apprehensive blogs to come!

I wanted to let everyone know that Thanksgiving was so awesome this year. I really did have a wonderful time getting it all ready and having you all in my home. I think that it was the only thing this house has been missing so far: a Marten takeover! I have so much to be thankful for and when I start reciting the list out loud, it always comes down to one thing, my family. Can't wait until next Thanksgiving. (As soon as we get the picture thing-y uploaded, it will post the pics.)

Christmas :)

Thanksgiving is over and the christmas celebration has officially begun! I love everything about christmas and can't wait to put up my christmas tree (gotta wait til Tom puts his fish tank up first though). Unfortunatly I can't fully let myself get carried away because I have finals in 2 weeks :( I'm a little stressed about my research paper, and I am currently procrastinating by writing a blog! surprise surprise. I'm sad that we won't all be together this christmas, but if it means Kelly will be a lot closer to home then thats a sacrifice I'm willing to make! Christmas just won't be the same though. Well I guess it's time to work a little on my research paper thats due in 2 weeks. Wish me luck :)
Love you all

Yellow Belt!

Nathaniel Marten earned his YELLOW BELT. Hooray! We're so proud of Nate.

Oh Well

Okay so my elf yourself thing didn't work but it was really funny. You can do up to 5 elves this year and I did the five of us girls and you can select what dance you wanna do and we did the charlston! If you get some down time, try it out cuz it's really funny.

This is how!

when you get to the main page, the "dashboard" click on the blue button that says new post...Then under title, you put a title, then go down to the main box and write whatever you want! if you want to put in a photo you click on the little button that looks like mountains click "browse" to choose your photo then choose a layout then upload image...and that's pretty much all I know how to do still...you guys can all work together on it and figure it out! it doesn't seem to difficult!

How does this work?

Okay, Bean. So how does this all work? It's all new to me. But a great idea. Give me play-by-play instructions and I'll try to keep up with you. Mom

Preface

Hey everyone! so I got this really great idea to start a Marten family blog. Since there are so many of us, and we're not always together, it's hard for us to stay in contact all the time. I don't know about you guys but I don't always have the time to make 6 phone calls everyday. I started this blog for us ALL to use. This way we can all post updates and photos to share information that we can check everyday. For examples...um, Katie gets engaged! or Keri gets a super awesome score on a test, or Nate becomes a yellow belt at power dragons! Now, I still have no idea how to do this whole blog thing, so I'm just going to play around and see what all I can figure out...It can't be all that hard. Also does anyone know if we have a good family picture that we can put as our main picture? I don't have any...actually when was that last time we even took a whole family picture? Texas?...I have no idea.
Anyways, sorry the weathers not so good for you guys, it's beautiful down here, but don't worry, that won't change my mind for moving home. In January hopefully I'll be able to get a final answer on whether or not I can transfer with whole foods to Ann Arbor! I can't wait to be closer to home!
I don't really have much to update on now, Kirky and I are doing great.
one of our favorite things to do is mock nate going "kirk! hey kirk! kiiiiiirk!...want to hear my wally impression? WAAAAAAALLLLLLYYYY"
I'm cooking thanksgiving dinner this year for kirk and his mom! :/ this should be interesting.
I don't think i'll be home for christmas this year, i'm going to work through the holidays so I can save as much money as I can for the move! but when you guys decide to watch white christmas, you should call and let me know so I can watch it at the same time!
I miss you all and like I said, I can't wait to be home!!!! Love yous!
-Bean
